Unit of distance (used in starship travel and astronomy). A parsec is the
distance at which a star would have a parallax of one second of arc if viewed from
Earth.
1 parsec is equal to:
Star system with one star and a planet more
Earth-like than most others. It is linked to another system by a stable
wormhole. It is 43.4
light-years from Sol. Its scientific
name is Iota Pegasi (ι Peg). Like many colonists living in
systems with one habitable world the inhabitants call both their system and the planet they live on Pegasus. Pegasus is a
first wave colony.
The Wayfarer left Earth in -36
AI (2180 AD) and arrived at the Pegasus System in 146 AI
(2360 AD). The original colonists voted to set up a hereditary monarchy, along with an elected
House of Representatives (known collectively
as the Star Kingdom of Pegasus) to govern their
planet. The benefits of advanced technology from Earth and an almost perfect
environment allowed the colony to prosper.
Pegasus discovered its system wormhole sometime between 146 and
150 AI (2360 and 2366 AD).
After developing wormhole technology and building
starships the Kingdom,
contacted local colonies, offered full access to parliament, technology and trading rights to any that would swear
loyalty to the crown and become its subjects, but no assistance of any kind to those who decided to remain independent.
Pegasus is the homeworld of the
Star Kingdom of Pegasus.

Slang term for the unmanned communication starship, developed by
Pony Network, for communication between the worlds of the
Eridani Republic. The drones and the company that developed
them take their name from the old Earth Pony Express. Originally the
Pony Network was confined to the worlds of the
Republic, but it now stretches across most of inhabited space. A pony has
about 5 tonnes in mass: most of that mass is the wormdrive itself. The
light weight of the vessel compared to the size of its wormdrive, helps the
pony make much bigger jumps than any manned starship could. The average
manned ship has a "speed" of about 230 C a pony has a "speed" of about 600 C. So while a manned ship
would take about five months to cross inhabited space, news broadcast on the Pony Network takes about two months to cross
the same distace.

Communications company based on Epsilon Eridani 2
(ε Eri 2). They broadcast news between star systems via their
unmanned communication starships. The name of the company comes from the
slang term given to the company's robot ships, which were nicknamed ponies, after
the old Earth Pony Express. In 156 AI (2370 AD)
Tau Ceti joined the
Eridani Republic, and
StarCom adapted their technology to work with Pony Network's interstellar
communications drones. Originally the Pony Network was confined to the worlds of the
Republic, but it now stretches across most of inhabited space.

Star empire, with influence over a number of star systems. Seven power
blocs exist, with all but two of these organisations created by a world that discovered a natural
wormhole and developed
wormhole technology. The distances from
The Solar System to the homeworlds of the power blocs are:
