Relgious organisation. One of the back-to-Earth groups. The Noans
religion is based on three main beliefs:
A secret society, which they call the Illuminati, is controlling
the destiny of mankind,
Earth is not the real birthplace of mankind (they call the planet that
humans really came from "Eden") and
Humans were brought to Earth from the real homeworld by the
Illuminati
Some of the more fanatical Noans even believe that the Illuminati
caused The Impact. The Noans have tried several times to organise an expedition
to Earth, but so far have failed. In 245 AI
(2461 AD) their founder, Robert Lind, was arrested on
Epsilon Eridani and convicted of embezzling the expedition
funds. In 263 AI (2479 AD) Noans on Troy
(DM-39 14192) actually launched a
starship (called Arc II), but an
explosion in its wormdrive crippled the ship. In 279
AI they accused the
Centaur Federation of framing Robert Lind and also
sabotaging the Arc II. The Federation took the Noans to the
Combine Supreme Court, was awarded large damages
and forced the Noans into bankrupcy. However the relgion, as a whole, cheated the court ruling by spliting up into small
chapters, with each denying any connection with the Trojan Noans. In 295
AI (2511 AD) a Noan controlled charity started construction on a new
starship (called Arc III). The
ship arrived in The Solar System in 298
AI (2514 AD), but was immediately seized by a fleet from the
Centaur Federation. Although many of the crew have been
released, some are still being held without charge. In 303 AI (2519 AD) Norman Porter,
a fanatical Noan worshiper, hacked into StarCom and uploaded a virus that
searched for documents about the Eden
(DM-41 1288) star system
and changed the name "Eden" to "The False Eden". Hundreds of
files were corrupted and StarCom lost a large amount of data when the virus
went rogue.
