System of months and days in year. Various local calendars
exist, usually setting the year a colony was founded as the year zero. The old AD
calendar (with its years and days based on the orbit and rotation of Earth)
was abandoned by most colonies. The most widely accepted calendar is the AI or
after impact calendar, which has the year
The Asteroid hit Earth as the
year zero, and years the same length as the AD calendar.

One of four Durchmusterung star catalogues. Originally the
names of stars listed in the Cape Photographic Durchmusterung consisted of the letters
CP (or CPD), followed by a plus or minus and the
declination (as viewed from a telescope on Earth). After a space a second number
was listed. The four Durchmusterungs have now been combined
into one, and the letters CP (or CPD) have been
replaced by DM.
Advanced form of fusion power. Unlike conventional fusion
(hot-fusion) cold-fusion does not occur at high temperatures and
pressures. Because of this cold-fusion power sources are incorporated into portable high energy devices (usually those
incorporating wormhole technology).
Period of time when people left Earth to colonise other
star systems. Starships
started to arrive at the colonies in 45 AI (2261 AD), and most had arrived by 146
AI (2360 AD). Because the wormdrive was
invented in 145 AI, some historians argue that the dates of the colonisation age are
-92 to 145 AI (2124 to 2359 AD) as, these were the dates when
cold-sleep was the only option for long distance travel.

One of four Durchmusterung star catalogues. Originally the
names of stars listed in the Cordoba Durchmusterung consisted of the letters CD (or
CoD), followed by a plus or minus and the declination (as viewed from a telescope on
Earth). After a space a second number was listed. The four
Durchmusterungs have now been combined into one, and the
letters CD (or CoD) have been replaced by
DM.
