KRUGER - Kruger 60 Star System

Power Bloc Strategic Intentions

Due to the systems location in relation to the wormhole to Troy, it was the first system visited by the Trojans. With the weak environment of Chrome making colonisation costly, the Trojans viewed the system only as a mining outpost, and sold the mining rights to the system to the Eastern Mining Company (EMC).

All voting shareholders of EMC are Trojan natives, and the company has representation on the Trojan government. Kruger 60 is still 'officially' Trojan territory, however in 177 AI, when the Trojans and their allies formed the 9 Star Combine, they merged their navies. Defence of Kruger 60 is now the responsibility of the Star Combine Navy.

Kruger is important to the Combine for two reasons:

  1. The planets provide a source of raw materials to many of their manufacturers.
  2. The wormhole close to the system provides free instant travel between Kruger and Troy making it a popular trade route.

Kruger itself has no interest to the other power blocs in its own right: its proximity to the wormhole make it impossible for anyone invading the system to defend it from a Combine Navy counter attack. However, the wormhole could be used to launch a sneak attack on Troy (similar to the attack on Wolf at the end of the First Interstellar War).
