About the VE Universe

After probes found habitable worlds with simple life, starships started leaving Earth in 2124 AD. Costs led to war. Earth turned away from space in 2180 AD. When a rogue asteroid approached Earth in 2216 AD, no one possessed the ability to stop it: Earth was history.

From 2344-2360 AD six colonies discovered wormholes, developing technology to let them visit other worlds. Now seven power blocs control most worlds, and mercenaries are an instrument of foreign policy on independent planets.
