Approximate animation of the planet orbiting Gamma Cephei (retrograde) Green = the discovered planet, Orange = parent star, Red = other star Click on black area to start or stop. Click refresh or reload button to

add trails This is a very rough first attempt to display this system. This animation should not be treated as an accurate representation of the orbits nor as an indication of how stable the orbits are. The inclination of the planet's orbit relative to the star' orbits is not known. Here I assume an inclination of 180 degrees, so that the planet's orbit is co-planar and retrograde relative to the stars' orbits, but the actual inclination may well be different. All parameters used are approximate. Also I have configured the applet to run fast at the expense of accuracy. The applet is capable of far higher accuracy (but that would mean a slower animation).
The java applet used for this animation is by Bob Jenkins. See

for details on how to control the applet with the mouse and how to adjust the orbital parameters
