Summary
In mid July 2002, Nnadia flew to Singapore to attend a charity function
organized by the National Kidney Foundation (NFK). She personally cooked 3
dishes and at an event entitled "Nnadia's cooking expertise - a fateful
encounter at Yu Jia Zhuang", Nnadia once again demonstrated her culinary skill
(with the help of Yu Jia Zhuang's boss) and came up with her Crystal Heart
Encompassing Nnadia's Love dessert for auction. This piece of dessert was
said to help enhance one's beauty. As for Nnadia, she commented that though
this might be true, the main goal of the dessert, of course, is to enhance the
future of the many children out there who are suffering from kidney diseases.
So therefore, one bowl of this dessert represents the goodness of many.
The audience showed much enthusiasm and support for Nnadia during the auction
event. The bids for her dish went all the way from S$1,888 to S$21,188!!! It
was said that the number 21,188 is meant to symbolize the 21st century, and
this bid was made by the generous owner of the restaurant. Nnadia expressed
that the kindness of people she saw that day truly touched her.
Nnadia also visited a children hospital during her trip to Singapore this time.
She stated that she really wants to try her best to help these unfortunate
kids... seeing how many of them are so lively, yet handicapped by their weak
health. One of the things which made her very happy was the fact that these
kids recognized who she was and some even addressed her by her character name
in the TV series The Legendary Four Aces. "They have already watched my
performance so when I came to visit them, they were really happy and many held
on to my hands." Nnadia said with a big smile on her face.
Amidst her busy schedule, Nnadia still set aside her time and had a gathering
with the newspaper's readers. When the fans saw their idol, many rushed up to
ask for her autograph and to take pictures with her, and Nnadia was gracious
enough to entertain everyone. All the money earned from this charity drive
went directly to the NFK's Children's Medical Fund.
