Cottage gardening's style is cheerful masses of color, mostly the pastel shades. Because traditional cottage gardeners didn't have much space, all plants were placed close together with small paths inter-connecting the gardens. One major benefit of this is minimal weeding. Fruits and vegetables were mixed in with flowers and walls of houses and trellises were used for climbing fruits, vegetables and flowers.
