WHO WE ARE?

Aegean Scouting And Youth Club has established in 2000 by volunteers who have many years of experiences on Youth Work and Youth Projects. Our Club has more than 150 members aged between 8 to 45. All we are focused on Youth Work, Scouting, Environment Activities and Developing Intercultural Awareness in order to promote peace, understanding and tolerance.

Club is based in Izmir, west coast of Turkey. We organize many events not only in Izmir, but in many regions of Turkey, such as Youth and Scout Camps, Trainings, Visits, Cultural activities etc...

We have experienced many international and intercultural gatherings and exchanges in the past. In year 2002 , Board members has decided to run a project in Frames of Euro-Med. According to this, some of these board members has participated courses and seminars organized by Council of Europe and Euro-Med National Co-ordinators.

TYPE OF THE PROJECT:

EURO-MED ACTION 1

NEEDS :

Youngsters need to expand their visions and ideas by interacting with peers. To develop among the youngsters practical life skills in order to respect both Natural and Social Environment.

AIM OF THE PROJECT :

To promote Intercultural understanding while building Environmental awareness.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT :

METHODOLOGY:

Interactive workshops and games, cultural performances and intercultural nights. Teamwork, group building and exhibitions. Workshops related to environment will be run by the experts from Environment Center of Aegean University Izmir due to the agreement between this center and our Club.

EVALUATION:

Questionnaire given to the participants at the beginning of the exchange and the similar one at the end, ongoing evaluation among the group leaders throughout the activity days.

DURATION OF THE EXCHANGE :

BETWEEN AUGUST 14,2003 AND AUGUST 27,2003 Excluding arrival and departure days.

VENUE OF THE PROJECT:

Two venues has chosen for the exchange:

On the last three days, participants will move to the central city of Izmir in order to join Izmir International Fair. Thus, participants will have chance to promote themselves in an international area while experiencing city culture and life in Turkey.

TARGET GROUP :

Participants must be in the age range from 18 to 23 and 6 participants per country in gender balance 3 to 3. This excludes group leaders and 1 group leader is permitted per country.
